A new campaign has launched to make people more aware of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are
traumatic experiences occurring during childhood that cause
children to repeatedly suffer. The experiences can directly harm a
child (e.g. abuse) or can indirectly affect children through the
often-hostile environments they live in (e.g. growing up in a house
with domestic violence).
Almost half the people in Wales have had an ACE.
One in seven people in Wales has had more than four ACEs. This can
display as challenging behaviour in children, as well as long-term
physical and mental health problems as they grow up.
The Time To Be Kind Campaign aims to encourage people to reach
out to others and, potentially, change someone's life forever.
People are asked to speak out about times when people were kind to
them, or when they were kind to others.
Use the hashtag #TimeToBeKind across social media, tagging
@acehubwales, to tell your stories about kindness in Wales.
The campaign has also launched a new TV advert. You can find
that, and more information about the campaign, at the Ace Aware Wales
