The third sector is to be invited to submit funding bids to run a mental health-focused social prescribing pilot.

Welsh Government describe social prescribing as ways of linking people to community-based, non-medical support. They are looking for bids that:

  • are based on a link worker model, accepting referrals from a variety of sources including primary care;
  • operate in at least two distinct pilot areas, including the Welsh valleys;
  • include a robust independent evaluation as part of the pilot;
  • are developed in collaboration, for instance with health, social care or other third sector partners.

An application form and guidance notes have now been published and are available here. Funding is expected to begin from 1 April 2018.
