The organisation of the network is under review. The network will be aimed at social enterprise and co-operative organisations in Wales. More information will follow shortly. In the meantime if you are interested in finding out more, please contact Ceri-Anne Fidler Jones at the Wales Co-operative Centre- Ceri.Anne-Fidler@walescooperative.org

The current issues for social enterprises in Wales include:

 • a need to improve awareness about the sector, particularly in the education system and careers service as well as amongst the general public
 • the need for appropriate and available finance to support the sector to grow
 • a continuing need for specialist business advice for the sector to meet its specific requirements. Specialist business and advice services should be secured and extended to specific sectors with growth potential.
 • the need for improved commissioning and procurement practice to help to develop a market of more socially responsible public service providers, for example by educating commissioners and procurement officers about the added value of social businesses delivering public services
 • influencing legislation and policy to create a positive business environment for social enterprises, for example the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act and the Future Generations Bill.
