Following 10 years working in the NHS in practice management Bev’s own experience of volunteering for the Youth Offending Team led her to change direction and apply for the post of Referral Order Volunteer Co-ordinator for the Youth Offending Panels during their time as a pilot in Cardiff.

Following national roll out of the scheme Bev worked for Newlink Wales as Volunteer Co-ordinator. Broadening her understanding of the Third Sector Bev then worked  as Volunteering Development Officer at Interlink, CVC for RCT where she was for 5 years before moving to her current post as Volunteer Manager at Breast Cancer Care in 2008.

She has responsibility for the implementation of the volunteering strategy, recruitment, selection and training of volunteers and the support of staff who work with volunteers across Wales, Central Midlands and South West England. Bev is also the representative for volunteering on the Third Sector Partnership Council .

Bev said 'Volunteering led me to a complete change of career direction -  working in the voluntary sector and seeing  how organisations big and small and their volunteers can make such a difference to the lives of individuals and communities is a constant inspiration. It was a great career move !'
