Following 10 years working in the NHS in practice management Bev’s own experience of volunteering for the Youth Offending Team led her to change direction and apply for the post of Referral Order Volunteer Co-ordinator for the Youth Offending Panels during their time as a pilot in Cardiff.
Following national roll out of the scheme Bev worked for Newlink
Wales as Volunteer Co-ordinator. Broadening her understanding of
the Third Sector Bev then worked as Volunteering Development
Officer at Interlink, CVC for RCT where she was for 5 years before
moving to her current post as Volunteer Manager at Breast Cancer
Care in 2008.
She has responsibility for the implementation of the
volunteering strategy, recruitment, selection and training of
volunteers and the support of staff who work with volunteers across
Wales, Central Midlands and South West England. Bev is also the
representative for volunteering on the Third Sector Partnership
Bev said 'Volunteering led me to a complete change of career
direction - working in the voluntary sector and seeing
how organisations big and small and their volunteers can make such
a difference to the lives of individuals and communities is a
constant inspiration. It was a great career move !'
