The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS) is the highest award given to volunteer groups across the UK - it’s the equivalent of an MBE.
In 2019 the Award was presented to 281 very diverse
groups of volunteers representing all ages and backgrounds.
What they had in common was their passion to make things better for
others and the outstanding quality of their group's work.
Congratulations to our wonderful Awardees from Wales in
2019 Amgueddfa'r Mor Porthmadog, Friends of Pontypool
Town and the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway. Help us
celebrate more fantastic groups like this.
There are volunteer groups doing fantastic work in Wales so please
help ensure they get the recognition they deserve. If you
know of an exceptional voluntary group and want to nominate them
for the Award, here's what you need to do.
Is your group eligible?
- has 2 or more members
- operating for at least 3 years
- majority are volunteers
- not purely fundraising
- benefits community (not animals)
Visit Queen's Award for
Voluntary Service website, read the guidance to check they are
eligible and fill in the nomination form. Nominations for the
Awards close on 13th September, so don't leave it too late.
