The Volunteering Wales website holds information about more than 5,000 opportunities and has more than 16,000 visitor sessions in a typical month.
It is the 'go to' place for volunteering in Wales.
Developments are underway for a new website in April, with
enhanced functionality for organisations and volunteers.
A contract has been awarded to Team Kinetic to develop a
new volunteering platform. The company first developed
volunteering software in 2007 for Manchester City Council. They
have been developing and improving it in the light of experience
and user demand, ever since.
Organisations will be able to post opportunity information as
before, and will be able to do much more besides: they can
use the site to manage recruitment processes, schedule volunteer
rotas, communicate with volunteers and to monitor volunteering
hours, for example, all free of charge.
Volunteers will be able to create their own profile, to search for
and apply to join opportunities, to leave feedback and to log
volunteering hours. Mobile apps are available for Apple and Android
systems and information and activity can be shared on social
Volunteer centres and WCVA will continue to have management
oversight and to be available to give face to face support where
this is needed; either to find suitable volunteering
placements, or in developing opportunities for
Regional TSSW (Third Sector Support Wales) sessions will be taking
place in March, to be held in Lampeter (12th), Newport
(15th) and Wrexham (16th). These will
give an opportunity to learn more about the new platform and how it
can be used. A public demo site is available https://demo.teamkinetic.co.uk/
(in English only - our site will be fully bilingual), which gives
an idea of what will be available. Feel free to give it a try, and
to let us know what you think. Contact Fiona on email@example.com
We will be issuing regular updates between now and April to let you
know what is happening and what you need to do. Meanwhile
please ensure that your organisation contact details are up to date
on the current website www.volunteering-wales.net.
