Building the volunteering community at the Office for National Statistics.
ONS Volunteers refurbishing the library at Caerleon
Comprehensive (BiTC Give & Gain Day 2017)
If you came along to the Office for National Statistics (ONS)
for the day, one of the things you might notice, (apart from the
steady buzz of people working hard to deliver informative data and
analyses for the public good), is the number and variety of
fund-raising activities going on. Raffles, bake sales and charity
days are part of the landscape and each year we raise thousands of
pounds for causes that are close to our hearts.
Mike Smith's main role at ONS is to support and monitor the
transformation of Business Statistics. He has been inspired by the
tremendous and selfless work of many of his colleagues to make a
difference. At the moment, this means trying to develop a
coordinated programme of volunteering to bring about sustainable
positive change to a local community.
