Safeguarding 700

28 November 2019, Cardiff - Delivered through the medium of English

Aim

To provide an introduction to safeguarding adults at risk for third sector organisations.

Content

Safeguarding should be a priority for all third sector organisations, and especially those that work with children, young people and adults at risk.

Welsh Government has said quite rightly that "Safeguarding is everyone's business".

Many third sector organisations are confident that they understand their responsibilities in relation to children, but less sure about what to do when it comes to safeguarding adults.

This course will increase your knowledge and understanding of safeguarding adults and will support organisations to improve policies and procedures in this area.

Outcomes

By the end of the course you should be able to:

  • Understand why we need to safeguard adults
  • Recognise who is an 'adult at risk'
  • Have increased awareness of the safeguarding adults legislation (Wales)
  • Understand the difference between safeguarding adults and children
  • Understand the principles of safeguarding adults
  • Have increased awareness of your organisation's responsibility in relation to safeguarding adults
  • Be able to recognise the categories of adult abuse
  • Know how to deal with abuse, disclosures and allegations

Who the session is for

This course is particularly suitable for staff, volunteers and trustees of third sector organisations who want to increase their knowledge and understanding of safeguarding.

It can also be used to develop, revise and implement safeguarding policy and extend good practice.
