Is your organisation’s data protection up to scratch?

In May 2018 the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into effect. Organisations need to start planning now to make sure they are fully compliant when the new regulation is implemented.

To help you prepare, WCVA in conjunction with the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office) will be holding free monthly webinars from May 2017 focussing on data protection.

Our #DesktopData sessions take place from the comfort of your own computer and will cover topics such as:

  • Direct marketing
  • Privacy by design
  • Cyber security
  • Subject Access Requests

Plus there'll be opportunities for you to decide future themes by telling us what it is you need to know.

What is GDPR?

GDPR is a 21st century approach to data protection, it aims to provide more protection for individuals and therefore more privacy obligations for organisations. Help protect privacy and avoid potential fines by signing up to our webinars and keeping your organisation up to speed.

Coming up

22 August 2017 - Privacy Notices and Consent

Being transparent and providing accessible information to individuals about how you will use their personal data is a key element of the Data Protection Act 1998 and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The oral or written statement that individuals are given when information is collected is often called a 'privacy notice' however, sometimes it may be called 'fair processing notice' or 'how we use your information'.

Where you need consent from an individual in order to process their personal data, you need to explain what you are asking them to agree to and why. This will often go hand in hand with providing privacy notices.

The next session in our #DesktopData series will be held at midday on Tuesday, 22 August.

To sign up for a webinar please email to register your interest.

If there are any specific topics you would like us to consider covering please get in touch with your suggestions.
