The Charity Commission has updated its guidance on safeguarding and protecting people.

Hands large

Following a consultation with the sector, the Charity Commission has updated its guidance on safeguarding and protecting people.

All charity trustees have to ensure that their charity prioritises the safety of anyone who comes into contact with their charity. The guidance helps them do this and explains their duties under safeguarding law.

The updated guidance has added a list of practical steps that trustees can take, more clarity around criminal records (DBS) checks, and more practical resources.

We would recommend that trustees ensure that safeguarding leads within their organisations familiarise themselves with the updated guidance.
