Richard strongly believes that one of the sector's greatest strengths and opportunities is the ability to work with people and really listen to what matters to them.

Richard wants to support WCVA in encouraging public services to live up to and be accountable for the policy aspirations of working in an integrated way with the sector.

In September 2017 Richard was appointed chief executive of Community Foundation in Wales and was previously the Wales director for Action on Hearing Loss Cymru, where he led the team to develop and grow volunteer-based community services.

Richard is a former chair of Age Alliance Wales and was the national third sector representative on the Powys Regional Partnership Board.

Earlier in his career Richard worked in the media sector as a regional newspaper editor (Wrexham Evening Leader and South Wales Echo) and brings to the role some of his communication experience and skills, which are valuable in raising our voice as a sector.

Richard is a first language Welsh speaker who was brought up near Caernarfon, later living in Holywell and Saltney before moving to South Wales some 12 years ago. Richard feels he has a good appreciation of some of the different areas of Wales.

Richard is approachable, a good listener and like to get things done.
