Either way, its important for third sector groups to get motor-vated and ensure their transport is carbon efficient, cost-effective and meets its duty of care obligations. As well as considering the environmental impact of your vehicles and your volunteers vehicles, its up to you to ensure each vehicle is roadworthy.

Communication dead spot overcome by community action

A community in rural Wales has won funding that it hopes will lead to a communication dead spot finally being overcome.

Residents and businesses in the sparsely populated West Wales village of Tregaron and the surrounding uplands have been without cellular service due to phone providers considering the area commercially unviable.

In response, a local community group has developed ambitious plans to purchase its own cellular masts, and lease space from the masts to major providers like Vodafone.

Football community project wins funding to create jobs

Rhyl Football Club has won funding of £120,000 to provide training and jobs for unemployed people in the area.

The money has been awarded to the clubs Football in the Community scheme through a project run by Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) which is targeting economically inactive people with support and employment opportunities.

Caia Park gets funding for jobs

A partnership set up to regenerate one of Wales poorest council estates has won funding of almost £250,000 to create employment pathways and jobs for local people.

The money has been awarded to Caia Park Partnership in Wrexham through the Intermediate Labour Market (ILM) project, which is funded by the Welsh Assembly and European Structural Funds.
