Voluntary sector meeting with the Minister for Social Justice and Local Government
The Welsh Assembly Government’s Voluntary Sector Scheme makes provision for twice yearly meetings between representatives of the voluntary sector and each of the Cabinet Ministers. The current Minister for Social Justice and Local Government is Carl Sargeant AM.
Ministerial meetings on social justice and local government take place in the spring and autumn of each year. Either side can put items on the agenda provided that they fall within the ministerial brief and that they address broad voluntary sector issues – it is not possible to discuss issues relating to single organisations in this context. There is provision for one meeting in each year to discuss issues arising from the budget planning round.
You can view minutes of the most recent meetings on this website.
A third sector planning group meets in advance of each ministerial meeting to review progress from the previous meeting, to agree items to be put forward for the agenda and to prepare supporting papers. Membership of the planning group is agreed by the Voluntary Sector Partnership Council and includes those third sector networks related to the ministerial brief.
Members of the voluntary sector planning group for social justice and regeneration are drawn from a wide cross section of the voluntary sector.
Support to the planning group and for the ministerial meeting is provided by Timothy Day, Director of Volunteering and Policy at WCVA. You can contact him at the Rhyl office on 0800 2888 329 or at policy@wcva.org.uk.
