People working in Wales’ third sector can now find the best jobs – and staff – at the click of a mouse button.
Employers and employees among the 30,000 charities and voluntary and community organisations across the country will be able to search a new bilingual website listing the wide range of positions available in the sector.
A joint venture between umbrella body Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) and Big Issue Cymru, www.recruit3.org.uk is a rebranding of the Goodmoves website, which was launched in 2006 as an alternative recruitment advertising package catering just for the third sector. It is the first bilingual third sector job website in Wales.
All adverts will also appear for a week in Big Issue Cymru, published on Mondays, and WCVA’s Network Jobs magazine, published on Wednesdays.
Big Issue Cymru has been running since 1994 and is Wales’s biggest selling weekly current affairs magazine. It includes up to eight pages of charity and third sector jobs every week. Network Jobs, the sister publication of Network Wales, is a jobs magazine that is circulated to the top decision makers in the Welsh third sector.
All vacancies will be posted on www.recruit3.org.uk and www.wcva.org.uk.
‘We know that when organisations have job vacancies, it’s vital to find talented, passionate people to fill them,’ said Graham Benfield OBE, Chief Executive of WCVA. ‘We work exclusively within the sector, so we understand the importance of each group’s core values and can help them find staff who feel the same.
‘recruit3 will offer free ad placement for trustee and board member vacancies, excellent rates for all other roles, and a community section in which charities and voluntary organisations can promote news and events. It’s a one-stop shop for third sector recruitment.’
Alex Hinds, Managing Director of The Big Issue Cymru said, ‘Since its inception in September 2006, our partnership with WCVA has provided the Welsh third sector with a cost-effective advertising platform. We offered a wide-ranging package at a fraction of the costs charged by the national media, and provided free ads for groups seeking trustee and board members.
‘recruit3 will be the next step in this process. It is fully bilingual and will be extensively promoted within the sector and to the people of Wales. It will be of great value in the tough economic climate that lies ahead of us.’
Simon Boex was recently appointed as the Fundraising Standards Board’s Manager for Wales, a vacancy advertised in Network Jobs. He relishes working in the third sector.
‘The third sector has a range of opportunities and it is almost guaranteed that there is an organisation that suits the interests and aptitudes of a person starting or changing their working life,’ he said.
‘Often there are unique opportunities, with levels of individual responsibility you would not find elsewhere. I really appreciate the opportunity to use my skills and experience to find creative solutions that help individuals or communities achieve their goals.’
