The Communities First Trust Fund (CFTF) aims to support any type of activity that involves local people, through small community organisations, that benefits their community. Applications are welcome from a range of community projects including music and the arts. The activities must provide some measure of economic, environmental, social or cultural benefit for people living in a Communities First area.
There are over 180 areas across Wales eligible for support from the Communities First Trust Fund. These areas have been identified in the Communities First Programme.
There is no minimum amount but £5,000 is the maximum you can apply for.
Applications can be submitted to the CFTF throughout the year from April 2010 and are processed on a first come first served basis. Therefore, as there is a fixed amount of money allocated to each Communities First area, it is to your advantage to submit applications as early as possible to avoid the risk of disappointment because the ward allocation has been over-subscribed.
The closing date for applications is Monday, 31 January 2011. Applications must be received in full with supporting information by Monday, 31 January 2011. We are unable to accept faxed or e-mailed applications.
We have compiled lists of appointed referees (you cannot nominate your own) for each area. These lists are available as Information sheets CF 2 – Trust Fund Referees and are available to download here. You will need to select the Information sheet for the local authority you are in and then select someone from this list.
The Communities First Trust Fund is a scheme funded by the Welsh Assembly Government aimed at small community led organisations in Communities First areas in Wales. The fund is administered by Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA).
