A substantial programme of training has been arranged across Wales aimed specifically at Communities First staff and partnership members.

Covering the key issues affecting the Communities First areas such as Child Poverty, the Outcomes Fund and Programme Bending, the programme seeks to work together with the advice and support and information teams to assist staff and partnerships in delivery of services.

The 2010 training programme continues the theme of Programme Bending and has expanded to deliver introductory sessions aimed at partnership members in addition to promoting examples of good practice in the field of working more effectively with service providers.

As part of this theme, sessions will be run looking at how to better engage with service providers which will include understanding Local Authority and health structures, working effectively with partners and negotiation skills.

Particularly relevant to Communities First are training sessions looking at project management and demonstrating and proving project outcomes.

Training courses are delivered in community venues across Wales and range from evening sessions to half day, one day and longer accredited training. At £25 + VAT/ day the costs are heavily subsidised by the Welsh Assembly Government (exceptions for accredited training).
