‘Be part of a growing civil society movement’ is the call to action for WCVA’s new offer, launched this week, which seeks to engage organisations in actively shaping its work as the national membership organisation of the third sector in Wales.

A new membership structure has been launched by WCVA making it easier for charities and voluntary organisations to join and benefit from being part of a distinctively Welsh civil society movement.

The changes present a clearer membership offer, with only one category of membership and a new fairer fee structure, based on annual turnover.

Membership is open to any third sector organisation - charities, voluntary and community groups, and social enterprises - who are working in Wales. As a Member of WCVA, you will have an opportunity to actively shape the organisation's work and link to a rich network of like-minded organisations with a shared vision.

Members will still continue to have access to a range of exclusive benefits including regular news, information bulletins, and bespoke funding searches; member-only events; Network Wales magazine; and discounts and offers on WCVA training courses, room hire, and payroll services.

Home-Start Wales has been a member of WCVA for a number of years. Bethan Webber, Director for Wales believes that, now more than ever, having a representative voice for the third sector is critical.

'In the current financial climate where voluntary organisations face significant challenges it's crucial that organisations such as WCVA represent our collective interests and act as a unified voice on the issues that matter most. We are facing times of change in terms of key policies and programmes and organisations like WCVA have a key role to play in influencing and informing key decision makers and funders on our behalf.

'It is also important to have a forum for sharing learning and ideas, for exploring challenges and opportunities, and of course building strong relationships within the sector itself.'

WCVA has refreshed its membership model, following consultation with the sector and stakeholders on its new strategic direction, and ratification at the AGM in November 2016.

This change will be implemented from 1 April 2017 and will be phased in during 2017 as existing members reach their renewal points.

Statutory organisations, and organisations or individuals working for gain in the third sector who share our vision and wish to support voluntary action in Wales can benefit as Partners of WCVA.
